Welcome to the Iowa Colony Volunteer Fire Department’s web site! This site has been developed to keep the citizens of Iowa Colony and our visitors informed about past, present and future developments regarding public safety in and around Iowa Colony. While browsing our site, please take the time to check the different links to find an assortment of valuable information to better educate you and your family on fire safety, emergency preparedness and Fire Department news and events.

We strive to keep current on trends in training and technology that rival many larger agencies. In fact, we just completed construction of a new in-house classroom designed to make firefighter education more interactive and informative. Also, through our partnership with the Manvel Police Department, we have access to the latest technology in computer aided dispatch (CAD) and communications, which allows for faster response to emergencies and seamless communications with surrounding agencies.

New firefighting apparatus purchased in 2006 through funding from the Brazoria County Emergency Services District #3 has been outfitted with the best available equipment for fire suppression and rescue operations. Also, we have just taken delivery of a brand new, custom built wildland firefighting truck purchased with assistance from the Texas Forest Service.

In conclusion, the City of Iowa Colony is already experiencing a significant amount of growth and is on the verge of exploding in population. It is vital that we prepare our infrastructure for the future and it is my goal to continue adding the best technology and training available to better serve our citizens so that they can continue to feel safe and proud of their community.

Sincerely,
James R. Ledbetter
Fire Chief
